Guest Speakers
The heart of AssembleX is the opportunity for community-members to hear from and engage with notable Guest Speakers. Unlike other Spaces, we manage the engagement to ensure, to the best of our ability, that Speakers do not to put our guests on the spot or “grill” them with the types of zinger questions they may experience on other Spaces. The goal is to engage for the purpose of creating positive, collaborative change.
Guest Speaker Guidance
If you are a Guest Speaker and haven’t spoken on X, or if you aren’t familiar with the format, the following tips will be helpful:
- The Space will usually start 5 or 10 minutes before the formal start time. We advise that you join 5 minutes early in order to ensure there are no technical issues.
- As soon as you arrive, please click the microphone in the lower left corner of your screen to “request a mic.”
- Once you join, please follow the Host, and both Co-hosts.
- In the case of issues with the space, the host will text your phone. All hosts phone numbers will be listed with this guidance.
- A strong wifi and/or cell connection is very important
- Please be in a quiet area
- Ideally use a headset versus a speakerphone
- When not speaking please mute your microphone
- If there are audio problems, a host may do what’s called “Drop you down,” which essentially moves you from the speaker panel to the listener group. They will then re-invite you as a speaker by sending you a Mic.
- A co-host may occasionally create a brief break in the space to “reset the space.” This reminds people to post questions in bubble
- If the site experiences any trolls, or offensive or off-topic speakers, the co-host may mute the entire room prior to dropping the speaker or removing them from the Space altogether.
